7 Easy Ways to Transform Your Home

The two most easiest and inexpensive ways to transform a room is by a small decorating change and moving furniture. My mother loves to move furniture around to give the home a new look instead of buying furniture, and she does this twice a year! Just buy moving a table to the other corner or adding a new plant would instantly brighten up the room. Even a minor change is always good, dont you think? If youre looking at decorating or redecorating your home, here’s 7 ways to spruce things up without the big bucks…

Pillows
They make any couch look very cosy and inviting. Even a rock hard bench would look cozy if you throw in a bunch of pillows on it. I love the idea of having a few in different colours and sizes. The key to not making different colours look out of place is by following a colour palette. Pictured; Ikea has really nice inexpensive cushion covers in very pretty colours, and these one in gorgeous colour combination at the front and back. A pretty throw to basically make the sofa a day bed would be this one. :)
Lamps
Overhead lighting can be harsh, and sometimes I want the room to be lit lightly, not to dark and not too bright. To achieve that balance is by having one or two lamps with lower watt bulbs, and neutral colour for lamp shades. If the lamp shades are too bright or colourful, it makes it the center of focus which is not the mission here. Pictured; Target has great lamps at affordable price, and I like this one in black and brass. If you like minimal, I like this minimal in brass.
Baskets
Baskets are great to have around the house for storage purposes. They look beautiful kept anywhere, and hide all the big and small messes.  They are great for storing toys, electronic chargers (the worst of messes), extra pillow and throws, and laundry items. Baskets come in many types such as woven, wire, plastic etc, and while they all are functional, purely based on looks, woven baskets look the most beautiful around the house. Pictured; I love the two tone basket and the curved one.

Art and Prints
I think this is the key to making your house into a place that is truly yours. Hanging a pretty piece on the wall just transforms a whole room. I like to keep a mix of painted pieces and photographs. The budget friendly way is by downloading images online for as less as $5 and by printing family photographs in black and white. If you would like a few options; I love thisthis and this. For photograph, I love this photo from The New York Times Archive. Also if youre looking for a globe, this one is pretty great.
Trays
Trays can be extremely functional because they help you keep things in one place. This not only prevents the stress of looking for things but also help keep the place organized. I like to have them in a few sizes placed around the house. Small ones for keys placed on the entry way table or nightstand for jewelry, and large ones on the coffee table for candles and remote or bathroom for placing toiletries. Pictured; I love this brass tray with green interior and the minimal concrete one.
Plants
If you look at any interior design pictures online, the most attractive ones are usually the ones with lots of plants. Plants and succulents not only make your home look pretty but also help clean the air! I love having a mix of a tall plant with a few medium size plants and a few small succulents. Home Depot has really nice one from $1 - $20. They just need a nice planter. Two pretty planters that I love. Pictured; I love this power planter where the bottom tier is the tray (genius) and the large planter.

Shower curtain
To transition from a student apartment into a mature adult apartment, a new shower curtain is a great place to start at. A nice shower curtain can instantly make a bathroom look sleek and pulled together. Every time I hang a new shower curtain, I feel like Ive moved in to a new place. I like to have shower curtains in pretty light colors with minimal design. I love this one made from canvas (pictured above) and also this ombre cotton one at a steal.
