My Nighttime Skincare Routine

I discovered proper skincare about two years ago, and from there it took me a few months and some dollars to find a routine that suits me best. This, I have been told, is perfectly normal as many skincare gurus have mentioned that finding the best routine is through trial and error. What I discovered about my skin is, less is best and I dislike hypes.

When I started researching skincare, I discovered so many brands and products that it was overwhelmed. I didn’t know what to pick amongst the thousands of options, so I consulted a specialist, and she advised products based on my skin type, and where I live. They were 5 to 6 products that I had to use morning and night. I don’t know if it was too many products or the ingredients in these products, but my skin broke out, especially around my cheeks and chin.

Prior to the consultation, my skin wasn’t glowing but it wasn’t breaking out either. I was assured by the specialist, that this is a normal reaction, and it would go away in a few weeks. Five months later, I was still battling the breakout which was now looking like borderline cystic acne. I decided to drop those products, and just buy a simple clean face oil. I really love face oils and believed it would help me.

I did my research and made my decision by thoroughly reading the ingredient list. I ended up buying Amanda Lacey’s Oil of Provence for the night. Alongside that, I bought Joëlle Ciocco’s Detox Serum for the day. Within a few days, my breakouts stopped. Currently, I am taking care of the dark marks those breakouts had left, and I may have found products that help. I will do a post on that soon. For now, here is my nighttime skincare routine.

I wash my face with the Amanda Lacey’s cleansing pomade, twice. It’s a balm cleanser and has a slightly grainy texture which I love because it exfoliates in the most gentle way possible. My skin feels baby smooth and very clean afterward. If you would like to try Amanda Lacey products, I would highly recommend you start with the cleanser. After cleansing, I pat dry my face with a towel and follow with a spritz rose water or thermal water.

Then I apply Joëlle Ciocco’s Lotion Lactee with a cotton round. Joëlle Ciocco’s products are another great personal discovery. There arent many reviews about them online, and the few that are published aren’t very assuring too. I liked that fact because I was so over must have kind of products. I also loved the natural ingredients list, so decided to go with my gut feeling. Lotion Lactee is a great toner because it gets rid of any cleanser residue which makes it an essential cleansing step.

Finally, I apply a few drops of Amanda Lacey face oil. Currently, I am using the Camellia oil. I can’t decide between Camellia oil and oil of Provence, which one is better. They both are very hydrating, and I wake up to my skin looking smooth and glowing like I had a facial. The oils are said, to help gently lift dead skin which is perhaps the reason for glowing skin. It is on the pricey side, but I must mention that one bottle lasts more than a year.
