Yesterday I sent a letter to my little sister who is 10 and lives in Dubai with my family. I wanted to write her a letter because I think it would be exciting for a little girl to receive a letter. Not many kids receive letters nowadays, especially in Dubai. I am hoping she likes the idea of being my pen pall where we will write a letter and postcards to each other once in a while. I am very excited and cannot wait for her to receive it.
I didn’t have any particular subject I wanted to write about so I kept it very general. If I had my way, I would have written about my opinion on things happening in the world. But I didn’t write that, because I didn’t want the letter to be a sad one and also she is too young.
In this day of social media, it is easier for us to open our Twitter apps or Facebook and talk about the issues we face. Which I think is great. But sometimes, I wish I could write someone a letter and pen down my frustrations. Write all that is wrong in this world. All the things that shouldn’t be happening.

Human beings have been around for thousands of years, but we still haven’t learnt how to live in harmony and peace with each other. We still can’t protect our children and give them the love and affection they deserve. Yes, there is always good and bad. But with each passing year, the bad is overtaking good. There is no healthy balance and this scares me. I can hope and pray that we all at least stop hating each other. I hope in the next year we can take little steps to making this world a much better one than in 2014.
